2021 The Next Chapter

Denis O' Sullivan • Aug 01, 2021

At Gearhanagoul...

It's been almost a year since I posted my last blog and it's been an eventful year to say the least.
2021 began with me laid up after finally getting my hip replacement operation on 27th Nov 2020 so my focus was on healing and learning to walk again for the first few months. I'm happy to report though that 8 months on I'm absolutely flying it! Having been almost crippled for a number of years prior to the operation it is like having a new lease of life and I will be eternally grateful to all those who took such good care of me during that time!
On 27th April it was the first anniversary of the passing of my Mom and also around that time we sold the family home in Killarney so I moved to Gearhanagoul, Kenmare to start the next chapter in my life. I was sad to leave "Glenshee" but I needed to. Even though they were very cathartic years living back there and I will always cherish the memories of the time I got to spend with my Mom before she died, it never felt like home to me this time around, I was the caretaker for the time I was there. I'm happy to see it go to a beautiful young family and I wish them every happiness in their life there.

So I declared 1st May the first day of "The Next Chapter" in my life. I was blessed to find such a beautiful place to move to. With what I have planned for the coming year it is the perfect place to work and prepare. So I set up my studio in one of the rooms where I plan to spend a year recording an album, making a few videos, finishing my book and working on my show to tour next year. I'm here 3 months already, I'm very happy here and I'm in the creative zone so all is well. Here's a photo of my studio where the magic will happen ;)

I set up a new video channel on Vimeo (www.vimeo.com/bloodmoon) because I feel the quality is far superior than on youtube (not to mention no ads!) and vimeo show my music videos in much better definition.
I still have my
youtube channel for other videos, they both serve a purpose. See for yourself on my videos page

Also new to this edition of my website is a Photo Gallery from 2020 which contains a selection of photos I took during the year

So I'm going to lock myself away for the next 6-9 months to complete my work and will post another blog before the end of the year. I may release a song and video around that time, I'll see how I'm progressing at the time. I've already started to spend less time on social media and all the other distractions to focus on my work. I've been working towards these goals for 10 years now so now I find myself in the perfect place and in a good head and heart space to finally get it all done and be ready to embark on my tour next year or whenever it is safe to do so.
I will continue to post on my facebook pages from time to time so please feel free to connect with me there

There you have it, that's where I'm at on this beautiful Autumnal day, the 1st August 2021. I leave you with a gift. I designed the "Moons of the Year" poster below and if anyone wants an A4 size 300dpi printable copy for free then please just email me or send me a message on facebook.

I wish you all a wonderful month ahead!
Peace & Love,

Denis.

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my blog! 2020 has been a year like no other and with no end in sight to our current plight it is important to keep on keeping on with the the belief that one day soon we will once again find ourselves in a World where we can move about freely and meet and hold each other without fear, that is a day we will welcome with open arms. In the meantime we are blessed with technology which enables us to communicate with each other like never before. This too will pass and we will get through it!

2020 has been a turbulent year, to put it mildly, containing events that have changed my life forever. The year began with dreams and plans of touring but that was soon brought to a halt when I was informed that I needed a hip replacement so I adapted to survive, what's another year I told myself. Soon after that came the Covid-19 virus and with it a total Worldwide lockdown. Life as we knew it has changed forever and as we're still in the middle of it who knows how it's going to turn out? Once again I adapted to survive. It's what we do or we die. Humanity has shone it's brightest lights during this time and there is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of this time to bring about much needed change in our society, only time will tell I guess. More recently though and by far the most difficult event for me to adapt to, and still is, was the passing of my Mother.
